Í verkinu Solus Break er einvera skoðuð í gegnum hrynjandi og dans. Hvað fær okkur til að vilja hreyfa okkur? Hvernig túlkar líkaminn taktslög? Í verkinu eru áhrif frá ólíkum tegundum tónlistar: hip-hopp, teknó, jungle, drum and bass. Kóreógrafían er náið samtal ryþma og hreyfingar. Allt byrjar þetta með sampl-tækninni, þá sérstaklega hinu goðsagnakennda trommusólói Amen Break sem hefur mótað heilu tónlistarstílana. Rétt eins og þetta tiltekna sampl lumar líkami minn á minningum, síkvikri sjálfsmynd. Ferðalag mitt úr hipphopp-menningunni yfir í klúbbasenuna varð mér innblástur í dans sem er undir áhrifum frá breakbeat: fullur af synkópum, ófyrirsjáanlegur og ákafur.
Ég stend einn á sviðinu og rifja upp líkamlegar og tónlistarlegar minningar, nota röddina eins og sampl og leyfi hljóðinu að stjórna hreyfingum mínum. Hver einasta hreyfing verður brot, minning, virðingarvottur. Solus Break er tilraun mín til að kortleggja það hvernig tónlistin streymir í gegnum okkar, breytir okkur og tengir.

Ég er danshöfundur og dansari í hópnum Dikie Istorii sem ég stofnaði árið 2017. Rætur mínar liggja í hipphoppi, bæði hvað varðar dans og tónlist. Síðar lærði ég nútímadans við Conservatoire Supérieur de Musique et de Danse í Lyon og þar kviknaði áhugi minn á sambandi líkama og hljóðs. Í sköpunarferli mínu leikur tónlistin lykilhlutverk og er gjarnan flutt á staðnum. Ég er gríðarlega hrifinn af raftónlist, allt frá hávaðatónlist, rokk og pönki til bassatónlistar, hipphopps, trap, jungle og teknótónlistar. Reynsla mín af því að koma fram með götulistahópum vakti hjá mér spurningar um almannarýmið; uppbyggingu þess, hljóðheim og milliliðalaust sambandið við áhorfendur. Ég nýt þess að reyna á hlutverk áhorfandans með því að skapa alltumlykjandi aðstæður, stundum með beinum samskiptum, stundum með því að brjóta upp hefðbundna afstöðu. Viðfangsefni mín eru breytileg frá ári til árs en spretta upp úr þjóðfélags- og heimspekilegum viðfangsefnum sem og tónlist, bókum, myndlist, kvikmyndum og rannsóknarvinnu.
Út úr þessari vinnu hafa komið nokkur verk:
ILS(2018), verk fyrir þrjá dansara og tónlistarmann í almannarými sem hverfist um hæglæti; No Pasaran (2020), alltumlykjandi verk fyrir fimm listamenn, þar af tvo tónlistarmenn, sem rannsaka uppreisn, uppþot og fjöldahreyfingar, með áhorfendur í hringiðunni minni. Nú síðast hef ég í Solus Breakverið að skoðaeinveruna í gegnum takt sjálfsmyndarinnar. Ég lít á sampl sem eins konar minni einstaklinga og hópa, og sem verkfæri til umbreytingar og þróunar í tónlist, dansi og menningu. Hvað kemur okkur á hreyfingu? Hvaða grúv? Hvaða hreyfingar kvikna?

Solus Break explores solitude through rhythm and dance. The project questions our relationship to groove: what makes us want to move? How does the body interpret a musical pulse? Drawing from a variety of genres; hip-hop, techno, jungle, drum and bass; the choreography becomes an intimate dialogue between rhythm and movement. It all begins with the art of sampling, especially the iconic Amen Break, a six-second drum solo that shaped entire musical styles. Like this sample, my body carries memory, an ever-evolving identity. My journey between hip-hop culture and the club scene led me to create a dance influenced by breakbeat: syncopated, unpredictable, and intense.
Alone on stage, I revisit musical and physical memories, using my voice like a sample and letting sound guide my gestures. Each movement becomes a fragment, a memory, an homage. Solus Break is an attempt to map how music moves through us, transforms us, and connects us.

I am a choreographer and performer with the company Dikie Istorii, which I founded in 2017. My background is rooted in hip-hop, both in terms of movement and music. I later joined the Conservatoire Supérieur de Musique et de Danse in Lyon to study contemporary dance, which opened up my interest in the relationship between sound and the body. In my work, music plays a central role in the creative process and is often performed live. I have a deep passion for electronic music, from noise, rock, and punk to bass music, hip-hop, trap, jungle, and techno. My experience performing with street arts companies led me to question the public space, its architecture, soundscape, and the immediate relationship with the audience. I enjoy challenging the spectator's role by creating immersive setups that reframe the performance space,sometimes through direct interaction, other times by breaking the traditional frontality. The themes I explore vary from year to year, inspired by social and philosophical topics, as well as music, books, exhibitions, films, and physical research.
This has led to several works:
ILS (2018), a piece for three dancers and a live musician, created for public spaces, centered around slowness; No Pasaran (2020), an immersive piece exploring uprisings, riots, and crowd movements, featuring five performers including two live musicians, with the audience placed at the heart of the action. More recently, I’ve been exploring the notion of solitude, Solus Break, within festive environments, through the lens of rhythmic identity. I approach sampling as a form of memory, both individual and collective, and as a tool for transformation and evolution in music, dance, and culture.
