About this Event
Idaho Songwriters Association is proud to present an informal course on songwriting with David Robert King, centering on the theme of "Soul and Story: Songwriting with Truth and Empathy."
David Robert King is an Idaho Falls-native singer-songwriter known for his deeply personal, "boneyard truth-telling" lyrics and haunting, gothic folk melodies. His songwriting garnered attention from legendary songwriter and Grammy nominated artist, Mary Gauthier, leading to international tours and collaborations with artists like Emily Saliers and Amy Ray of the Indigo Girls, and Sarah Potenza from NBC’s The Voice and AGT. With acclaimed releases such as Idaho (2018), Top 40 spots on folk and roots radio, and his passion for passing along his knowledge and experience through workshops and songwriter gatherings, King has established himself as a poignant storyteller who has performed at esteemed venues including The Grand Ole Opry, Lincoln Center, and The Bluebird. His work is frequently recognized for its raw, emotional honesty and evocative storytelling.
David currently lives in Atlanta, GA with his 7-year-old daughter, Lucy. When not on the road, he produces for other artists at his studio, Hummingbird Recording.
