Dadweed At White Lilac
About this Event
Reimagining “pickin’ and thumpin’” through a wide-open lens, dadweed blends the drive of traditional bluegrass with elements of jazz, folk, pop, and R&B, creating a sound that is both rooted and restless. Their sets move through a wide range of styles and dynamics, from fast, foot-stomping acoustic fire to slower, heartfelt moments, all with a strong focus on improvisation, three-part vocal harmonies, and virtuosic musicianship.
This is bluegrass with room to stretch. Covers and originals sit side by side, each tune given space to breathe, bend, and take unexpected turns. Willamette Week named dadweed one of its Best New Bands of 2025, describing their sound as “Sunrise under a willow tree in the country,” while KLCC/NPR called them “a fresh take on the bluegrass genre.” The Oregon Bluegrass Association put it simply: “dadweed is redefining what’s possible in bluegrass.”
Since forming, the trio has toured throughout the West Coast, appearing at festivals, venues, and private events, including a main stage performance at the Oregon Country Fair. They released their self-titled EP in 2024, followed by the single “pitter patter” in 2025, with more new music on the way.
For fans of progressive bluegrass, tight harmonies, acoustic improvisation, and musicians who know the tradition well enough to joyfully push it somewhere new, dadweed is exactly the kind of band that belongs in a room built for listening.
