About this Event

Madison Thursday. Chicago Saturday. Kenosha gets Friday.

Colorado indie-folk band Frail Talk is making its way through the Midwest with performances in Milwaukee, Madison and Chicago—and a last-minute opening in the route has brought them to White Lilac for one special ALL AGES Friday-night performance.

Built around songwriters and multi-instrumentalists Alex Woodchek and Cor Wright, Frail Talk creates emotionally rich music that moves between intimate acoustic folk, dreamy indie rock, soft pop and experimental electronic textures. Gentle harmonies and delicate arrangements can suddenly open into something expansive, strange and deeply moving.

The band describes its sound as “squiggly indie music for squiggly people,” an appropriately playful description for music that rarely follows a straight line. Frail Talk’s songs feel personal without becoming predictable, finding beauty in uncertainty, vulnerability and the small moments that often pass unnoticed.

In 2025, Frail Talk was selected as the Denver opening artist for NPR Music’s Tiny Desk Contest On the Road tour, recognizing them as one of Colorado’s notable emerging independent acts.

Their sophomore album, Microspirit, was recorded with Hannah Read of Lomelda and Tommy Read. The album blends organic folk instrumentation with unexpected sonic details, creating music that has been described as aching as much as it heals.

Frail Talk also arrives in Kenosha fresh from performances at Appleton’s Mile of Music, one of the Midwest’s leading festivals for original independent artists.

This is music made for a listening room: close harmonies, careful lyrics and subtle details that deserve more than background noise. Inside White Lilac’s 45-seat room, Frail Talk can be experienced the way this music is meant to be heard—up close, quiet and completely present.

Opening the evening: These Stolen Moments

These Stolen Moments bring together three veteran Kenosha musicians whose histories run through local legends Donoma and other corners of the local and independent music scene.

With piano, drums, vocals and electric violin, they create an atmospheric blend of indie folk, post-punk and art rock that feels far bigger—and stranger—than an ordinary three-piece.

Their hometown sound makes them an especially fitting opening act for Frail Talk and a compelling reason to arrive early.

No giant stage. No distractions. Just two distinctive bands, 45 seats and an evening of original music heard the way it should be.
