About this Event

Cosmos to Clinic: Towards Personalised Cancer Care inspired by Astrophysics

Join us for an exciting in-person event where we dive deep into how the mysteries of the universe are shaping the future of cancer treatment. Discover how cutting-edge astrophysics research fuels breakthroughs in personalised medicine, making therapies smarter and more effective. It's a unique chance to explore the fascinating link between the stars and healthcare. Don’t miss out on this stellar journey from cosmos to clinic!
Our speakers, Dr Navita Somaiah, Dr Uzma Asghar, and Dr Maximilian von Wietersheim-Kramsta, will show you how clinical datasets can help us develop better cancer treatments, how methods developed in the context of astrophysics and cosmology can help us make the most of that data, and how we can put it all together to provide personalised evidence-driven cancer treatments.
This event is hosted by the Institute for Computational Cosmology and will be held at the Department of Chemistry, Durham University, at 6pm on May 5th 2026.
Please find the accessibility information for the venue on this page.

Limited on-street parking available near the venue. Nearest paid parking available at Prince Bishops Car Park in the city centre of Durham (~15 minutes away on foot, or ~10 minutes away by bus, nearest bus stop "University - Palatine Centre").
