We're working to develop proposals to manage surface water using a SuDS approach in the Craigleith area. The proposals will help to adapt Edinburgh to a changing climate, by reducing surface water flood risk in the area. They will help to help cleanse, soak up and slow rainwater - protecting the sewer network.
We will do this by:
- adding green space - transforming grey streets into green tree-lined streets.
- maximising the value of underused spaces - turning hard surfaces and unused space into green SuDS raingardens.
- calming traffic and making road junctions safer and more pedestrian-friendly - reducing the size of road junction corners so vehicles turn more slowly and people have less distance to cross.
The proposals are at Craigleith Road, Craigleith Crescent, Craigleith Drive, Craigleith Avenue South and Ravelston Dykes.
We want to hear what you think about the project:
- come to speak with us at our next information event on Thursday 29 October 2026 between 3pm and 6pm at Blackhall St Columba’s Church, Columba Road, Edinburgh EH4 3QU
