Seminar 1 (Dydd Iau 23 Ebrill 1.00pm–4.00pm): Diwylliant a Datblygu’r Economi yng Nghymoedd De Cymru

Themâu: Senarios y dyfodol ar gyfer llywodraethu’r ddinas-ranbarth, datblygu economaidd, datblygu cynaliadwy a chynllunio strategol.

City Region Co-Lab Spring Seminar Series



The City Region Co-Lab Spring Seminar Series will consist of three thematic seminars bringing together academics, policymakers, and practitioners to explore critical issues facing city regions. The series represents the inaugural public activities of the City Region Co-Lab:


Seminar 1 (Thursday 23rd April 1.00pm-4.00pm): Culture and Economic Development in the South Wales Valleys


Speakers: Annie Tubadji (Swansea University - [email protected]), Brad Evans (Bath University - [email protected]), Richard Gater (Cardiff University - [email protected]), Robert Huggins ([email protected]).


Themes: Cultural and community assets as drivers of economic regeneration in post-industrial communities.


Seminar 2 (Thursday 30th April 1.00pm-4.00pm): Innovation and the City Region


Speakers: Kevin Morgan (Cardiff University - [email protected]), Sara Pepper (Cardiff University - [email protected]), Max Munday (Cardiff University - [email protected]), Katherine Parsons (Cardiff University - [email protected]).


Themes: Innovation ecosystems, cluster development, inclusive innovation and economic transformation strategies.


Seminar 3 (Wednesday 13th May 1.00pm-4.00pm): City Region Futures


Speakers: Andrew Carter (Centre for Cities - [email protected]), Kellie Beirne (Cardiff Capital Region - [email protected]), Chris Sutton (Sutton Consulting - [email protected]), Peter Madden (Cardiff University - [email protected]),


Themes: Future scenarios for city-regional governance, economic development, sustainable development, and strategic planning.


All the seminars will be held in-person in the Committee Rooms at Cardiff University’s Glamorgan Building.


Note: The City Region Co-Lab represents a new approach to urban and regional development research. Based in Cardiff University’s School of Geography and Planning, we bring together researchers, policymakers, community organisations, and industry partners to co-produce knowledge and drive sustainable, inclusive development in the Cardiff Capital Region and beyond.
