Join us for a screening of That Summer in Paris (Le rendez-vous de l’été), a witty, heartwarming story of sisterhood and self-discovery set against the backdrop of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. Shot on location during the major sporting event, the film has been praised as a “Rohmeresque delight à la The Green Ray" and “a warm and charming piece of independent filmmaking.”
30-year-old Blandine (Blandine Madec) takes a solo trip to Paris from Normandy during the height of Olympic fanfare. With plans to meet her half-sister Julie (India Hair) while in the city, she is on a mission to watch her favorite swimmer Béryl Gastaldello in action. Alone in the crowd with her overstuffed backpack, Blandine awkwardly makes her way around the sun-dappled city to navigate moments of human connection.
The feature film debut of director Valentine Cadic, That Summer in Paris was a festival darling in Berlin, Busan and São Paulo and a 2026 selection for the Young French Cinema Program by Unifrance. A delicate balance between documentary and nostalgic fiction; the film provides an intimate look into the happenstance encounters of a landmark moment in Paris’ history.

Following the screening, French Library Manager Sophia Kornitsky will lead a discussion in English, offering insights into the new generation of French cinema and sharing reflections on her experiences living in Paris.
The evening will include complementary popcorn and a reception where guests can connect and share their thoughts over a celebratory glass of wine.
