From 1642 until its surrender in 1646, Chester stood at the centre of the conflict in the north-west, enduring bombardment, hunger, and one of the longest sieges of the war.

This tour is designed to highlight the role of the city during the English Civil War. Step back into the 1640s, when Chester stood battered, starving, and divided.

Walk the ancient walls, and visit the famous breach, where both soldiers and civilians fought and died.

Walk to King Charles Tower — where Charles I stood and watched his army defeated at the Battle of Rowton Moor.
