Castration Movie Chapter iii. Junior Ghosts—Premorphic Drift; a fragmentary
About this Event
After partnering with Speed and Strike to show Castration Movie Part 1, and fascilitating a Q&A with director Louise Weard for Part 2, we're finally bringing this epic, gut-churning anthology to Liverpool!
The story follows Izzy (Avalon Fast), a cisgender woman whose life is upended when her slacker partner, Trent/Tiffany (Henri Gillespi), decides to transition. Unable to accept the change, Izzy is consumed by panic and retreats deep into internet echo chambers. Submerged in online rabbit holes of biological essentialism, she becomes radically desperate, dedicating all her energy to sabotaging and halting her partner’s gender transition.
Blending a lo-fi, home-video aesthetic with a slow-burning psychological descent, the film opens with Izzy navigating a high-stress helpline job, where a sudden violent encounter with an acquaintance sets the tone for the friction and obsession to follow.
Louise Weard is a Canadian filmmaker and producer recognized as a prominent voice in contemporary trans cinema and DIY underground horror. Known for her raw, consumer-grade video aesthetic, her work frequently explores identity, internet subcultures, and complex relationship dynamics. As the creator of the acclaimed, multi-part Castration Movie anthology, she continues to push boundaries in the international queer genre scene.
We've partnered with Protect Scouse Dolls to offer free tickets to the Trans+ community!
