Care Essentials & The Middle Stages of Dementia (4-Week Weekly Series)

This 4-week workshop is for informal care partners supporting persons living with dementia. Across the sessions, participants will learn more about the progression of the disease and cognitive effects, changes to communication & behaviour, and how to support daily activities and meeting needs for the person and themselves as care partners. Topics

covered are:

Week 1: What to Expect (January 19th)

First in our four-part series, this session will provide an overview of the progression and symptoms of dementia and discuss how you can support remaining abilities for the person living with dementia.

Week 2: Communicating Effectively (January 26th)

Second in our four-part series, this session explores communication changes in dementia and strategies for effective communication.

Week 3: Responding to Behaviour (February 2nd)

Third in our four-part series, this session will explore whole person care, behaviour changes and how to use problem solving solutions in your caregiving journey.

Week 4: Supporting Daily Activities (February 9th)

Fourth in our four-part series, this session will help care partners explore meaningful activities, ways to support daily living and will discuss local resources available.

These sessions will be hosted at the Ajax Public Library - Audley Branch Multipurpose Room (1955 Audley Rd N. Ajax)
