Botanical Dye Workshop at Tyee Arts

Immerse yourself in the art of natural dyeing in this two-day hands-on workshop led by Kathleen Adams Olsen. Using plants and materials sourced from nature, you’ll explore the creative possibilities of botanical dyes while connecting with the natural world.

Day 1 • Sat. June 7th: Begin with a guided foraging session on the property, gathering plants and materials to create your own stunning, naturally dyed fabrics. Dive into the dyeing process, techniques, and the unique characteristics of each botanical source.

Day 2 (Optional) • Sun. June 8th: Turn your dyed pieces into a wall hanging or a traditional Japanese curtain known as a Noren. Using the fabrics you dyed on the first day we will further embellish them to create a beautiful and functional piece of art for your home.

Refreshments and dessert offered, please bring your own lunch.

Workshop Options:

• Day 1 Only (June 7th): Participate in the foraging and dyeing session and take home your custom-dyed fabrics.
• Two-Day Experience (June 7th+8th): Complete the full experience, including crafting your personalized Wall hanging or Noren on Day 2.

This workshop is perfect for anyone looking to explore natural dyeing, creativity, and connection with nature and community.
