Come join us on a guided walking tour and learn about all the amazing wild foods that grow in the Boreal Forests surrounding Thunder Bay!
About this Event

The Boreal Forest is home to over 3.7 million people world wide, many of which depend on the plants, animals and fungi that grow within them for sustenance. The boreal forest is home to a plethora of delicious and nutritious wild foods and this tour dives right into discovering and rediscovering the amazing breadbasket that is our forests!

This guided tour will be approximately 1 - 1.5 hours long and will help discover, identify and learn much more about many easily found wild forgeable foods within our backyard. Please note, we do not actually harvest plants on this tour.
Each tour will be slightly different as plants and mushrooms come and go, but there's always so much to see and find, we'll never run out of great specimens! The tour will run rain or shine so please dress accordingly. In the event of severe weather see below *.

Each time slot has a maximum of 20 tickets available, so ensure ticket availability for a certain date if you want others to join you! All children under the age of 16 must have an adult present for the tour, and all participants are required to have their own ticket! Tickets can be refunded up to 24 hours before the tour, however the service fees from Eventbrite are non-refundable!

We will be hiking on easy to intermediate trails for this tour, which may be difficult for persons with accessibility requirements, please reach out to us if you have any concerns whether this tour is right for you.

On this tour we will meet in the parking lot for the LPH Parking Lot at the end of Clarke Street (Off Algoma Street), where you will meet your tour guide, who will be holding a sign!

Please note this will be occurring outside on nature paths that may have lumps, bumps, rocks as well as some hills. Wear sturdy footwear, remember to bring sunscreen, bug spray, and a bottle of water!

An easy checklist for what to bring:

ID of ticket holder (only the purchaser of tickets need the ID to confirm tickets)

Water Bottle

Sturdy Shoes (no flip flops or flats)

Bug Spray

Sun Screen

An excitement to learn about our wild foods!
*In the event of severe weather, the event will be cancelled with as much notice as possible, and tickets will either be refunded or rescheduled! Please check your contact email regularly incase of this event!
