About this Event
Professor Thomas Ward will be presenting “Black Soldiers in the Korean War” on Zoom Tuesday, February 25 at 7 p.m. Registration is required. The Zoom link is at the end of this posting.
The Korean War is often referred to as America’s forgotten war. Over 7,000 servicemen were captured and interned during the war with another 8,000 listed as missing in action, many of whom were captured and killed or died in camps.
While only the Civil War saw larger numbers of Black soldiers taken prisoner on the battlefield, African Americans who fought in the Korean War and especially African American POWs have largely been ignored and not celebrated for their contributions.
This program is sponsored by The Friends of the Englewood Library.
