Birding 101 - Walking Tours

Calling all bird enthusiasts!
The Friends of Fish Creek Provincial Park Society will be running Birding Walking Tours throughout the month of June. Come learn about the variety of habitats in the park that support different bird species, and how to participate in citizen science tracking.
This tour is open to all skill levels - beginners are welcome!
What to expect:
- About a 2-hour, 4km loop
- Guidance on how to use Merlin and eBird to identify and log bird sightings
What to bring:
- As always, come dressed for the weather!
- Sunscreen, bug spray, a water bottle
- A smartphone with the Merlin and eBird apps
- Binoculars, if you have them!
Location: All tours will begin and end at the Visitor Centre in Bow Valley Ranch (15979 Bow Bottom Trail SE). Parking is available on site.

- Saturday, June 13, 10am-12pm
- Saturday, June 20, 10am-12pm
- Saturday, June 27, 10am-12pm
Cost: Individual $15, Family $35 (up to 2 adults and children in same household)
50 % off for Friends of Fish Creek members and volunteers
About the tour guide:
Yewande Oyelese (they/she), B.Sc. Environmental Science
Yewande is a recent graduate of the University of Calgary’s environmental science program, and is currently acting as Environmental Program Coordinator for the Friends of Fish Creek Provincial Park Society. She started taking interest in birding around 2023 and has been developing the hobby since. She is particularly interested in identification by sound.
