August CERT Communications Drill and Hike
About this Event
Join us on Saturday, August 8th, at 8:30 am, we'll set up our Command Post at the trailhead near the intersection of Camino De Yatasto & Vereda De La Montura (17415 Camino De Yatasto, Pacific Palisades, CA 90272). Our friends who aren't ready to hike can join the LAFD Axillary Communications Service at the CP. Late arrivals can support the Command Post. From the Santa Ynez Canyon Trailhead, we will hike to Trippet Ranch (turn around point). This hike will take us past live oaks and sycamores that provide lots of cover as we travel deeper into the canyon with sandstone formations and cliff gardens along the trail. Lots of trees, flowers, small streams (2-3 inches deep), and lots of poison oak, but you’ll be safe as you stay on the path. This is a semi-maintained trail, with small rocks and roots to walk over and around. Lug soles shoes and a hiking pole/walking stick will be useful.
Monitor ACS 1, while driving to the park and we'll use FRS 5 for the hike. To promote our program and present a positive image please wear your favorite CERT t-shirt. Bring a comfortable pair of shoes, water, a mask, and a desire to accomplish the mission. Our monthly hikes are available to all.
