About this Event
Art for Change: Mixed Media Eco Art Workshop
Please note, as this activity takes place during the Women's Centre's open hours, this activity is open to women and women-identified volunteers ONLY. Thank you for your understanding.
Attention Calgary Volunteers! We are inviting volunteers to join us in person for a fun and creative session during Volunteer Appreciation Week!
Dive into the world of eco-friendly art using mixed media and let your imagination run wild. Participants will explore your relationship with rivers and create a 4x4 inch art piece with driftwood and bits of colourful plastic collected from the shores of Glenmore Reservoir.
All workshop materials will be provided and no previous art experience is necessary.
Don't miss out on this chance to connect, create, and honor our amazing volunteers!
About the Workshop Facilitator: Andrea Merredew
Andrea Merredew is a Calgary artist who has been involved with social and environmental justice work for the past 25 years. She sees art as a doorway back to the land, an act of expression, resistance, and care. She finds freedom in working with her hands and communicating through sculpture, photography and mixed media collage. For the past eight years, she has organized an annual shoreline cleanup and community art gathering at Glenmore Reservoir, transforming beach plastic into art. This year’s gathering will take place on Sunday May 10 from 10-12.
