Join us for Part 2 of this immersive training with Jo Buick, founder and director of the non-profit organisation Collective Being, and the newly launched service Taking Good Care.
For the past 17 years, Jo has worked across education, mental health and social justice as a strategist, educator, non-profit founder, and somatic practitioner.
In this training series, Jo will be drawing on her experiences as an educator, trainer, and group facilitator in trauma-exposed settings, including schools, refugee and migration services, clinical settings, and family violence settings.
Jo is especially dedicated to practitioner care and sustainable work in trauma-exposed settings. This series will also weave in practical facilitation techniques for facilitator energy conservation, connection, and groundedness.
Applied Trauma-Informed Approaches to Group Facilitation will build on the skills and principles covered in Part 1's Introduction to Trauma-Informed and Somatic Approaches, this workshop will focus explicitly on group facilitation techniques that are both trauma-informed and somatic in orientation.
This session will integrate demonstration and practice of facilitation techniques, case studies, and reflective practice.
You do not need to attend Part 1 to particapte in this session.
Participants can expect:
A trauma-informed and mental health aware learning environment that both expects and welcomes difference
Opportunities to engage in group activities and facilitation practice, in addition to solo options for those more interested in self-reflective practice
A rigorous introduction to trauma theory, trauma science, and the relevance of body-based approaches to group contexts
A take-home resource with practical and adaptable facilitation techniques and strategies
Access to digital versions of presentation slides and other resources shared in the training.
Please note that this training is for professional development, as opposed to therapeutic outcomes. Whilst lived experience is very welcome, both parts of this training focus on material and skills to be utilised in professional contexts. Should you wish to attend a trauma-informed group therapy program, recommendations can be provided.
Please note this event will be located on first floor, with a flight of 17 stairs.
