GR Researcher Careers Day: "Exploring your career direction"

The Researcher Development Academy will again host Graduate Researcher Careers Day on 26 August, 2026. This in-person, catered event is open to GRs (PhD and Masters by Research candidates) from all disciplines and stages of candidature across the university. The theme is: "Exploring your career direction". The Careers Day program includes:

• Discover What Matters to You Now: A key step in career planning is to rediscover or deepen your self-awareness and sense of identity. Session 1 of this interactive workshop enables you to explore and reflect on your interests and strengths in relation to your career. We will work with interactive online tools and a workbook, which will help you gain greater clarity for your post-PhD career direction. This workshop is highly reflective, and so does not cover the skills for job applications, visa applications etc. This is a two-part workshop series. Please also register for Session 2: GR Careers: Continuing to Discover What Matters to You Now (online 2 September 2026).

• Career-focused peer reflections: Join the Director of Graduate Employability, Dr Lauren Hansen, in this lively and colourful session to digest what was uncovered in the morning workshop.

• Leveraging careers services at Deakin: Learn how to leverage careers services, including the DeakinTALENT International Students Careers Program (DISC).

• Morning tea and lunch will be provided.
