Very Rev. Peter B. Mangum is the pastor of Jesus the Good Shepherd Church in Monroe, Louisiana and is co-host of the 36 episode podcast, Who is the Man of the Shroud? Who is the Man of the Shroud? His research in the Vatican Secret Archives has been published in international journals and conferences. This collaboration has fostered significant transatlantic initiatives for Shroud education. With Dr. Cheryl White, he curates the Richard Orareo Collection of rare artworks and artifacts related to the devotional history of the Shroud.
Father Mangum speaks to various groups, including Catholic seminaries, seeing the Shroud as the most critical evangelization tool. Recent public talks include the Museum of the Bible, the Smithsonian Institution, and a significant event for the Archdiocese of New York at Old St. Patrick’s Cathedral. He also presented at the National Eucharistic Congress in Indianapolis on the Shroud of Turin. Father Mangum is the Episcopal Delegate for the Cause of Canonization and Beatification for the five Servants of God known as the Shreveport Martyrs. He features in The Five Priests, an award-winning documentary on EWTN and global streaming platforms, and a forthcoming EWTN documentary on the Shroud of Turin.
Cheryl H. White, Ph.D., is a history professor at Louisiana State University at Shreveport, where she holds the endowed Hubert Humphreys Professorship. She currently serves on the board of directors of the Shroud of Turin Education and Research Association (STERA). She has published original research from the Vatican Secret Archives on the history of the Shroud for international journals and conferences.
Dr. White served as the historical consultant on the original Shroud of Turin exhibit developed for the Museum of the Bible and is a lecturer for the Smithsonian Institution. She presented on the Shroud of Turin in 2023 at World Youth Day in Lisbon, Portugal, and at the 2024 National Eucharistic Congress. She co-hosts a thirty-six-episode podcast series entitled Who is the Man of the Shroud?
Dr. White is a regular consultant and contributor to The History Channel. She will be featured in a forthcoming documentary on the Shroud for EWTN. She will collaborate with the Center for the International Study of the Shroud in Turin on collaborative projects. With Father Peter Mangum, Dr. White curates the esteemed Richard Orareo Collection related to the history of the Shroud of Turin, a cultural treasure of artworks and documents that spans five centuries.
Her forthcoming book, The Shroud in the Third Millenium: Confronting the Limits of Human Knowledge, will be published in 2025.
