An Evening with Mary Oliver: Poetry Reading & Documentary Screening

Join us for a poetry reading with Red Dirt Poetry, followed by a screening of the documentary Mary Oliver: Saved by the Beauty of the World.
About this Event

Celebrate the life and legacy of beloved poet Mary Oliver with an evening of poetry and film.

We'll open with a poetry reading and open mic hosted by Red Dirt Poetry, offering space for community members to share original, nature-themed poetry and work. Following the reading, we'll screen Mary Oliver: Saved by the Beauty of the World, the new PBS American Masters documentary exploring Oliver's life, work, and enduring influence.

Interested in reading original nature poetry during the open mic? Let us know when you register! Space is limited to about 8 readers; if we can't accommodate everyone who signs up, we'll follow up by email 24 hours before the event. Spots are limited, so early sign-ups are encouraged, but walk-up readers are welcome too, space permitting.

This free, educational event is presented by Oklahoma Film Exchange, in partnership with Red Dirt Poetry and Oklahoma City University's Jeanne Hoffman Smith Center for Film & Literature.

Seating is limited to 50 and RSVP is required.
