Calling all sports and history fans! Join us as we host author Howard Bryant, one of the best sports and culture writers working today. Howard will be discussing his new book, Kings and Pawns: Jackie Robinson and Paul Robeson in America, the untold story of sports and fame, Black America and the promise of integration through the Cold War lens of two transformative events.Howard Bryant is the author of 11 books, including Rickey, The Heritage, Full Dissidence, and The Last Hero, a biography of Hank Aaron, which was named “One of the Ten Best Books of the Year” by Dwight Garner of The New York Times. Bryant served as guest editor of The Best American Sports Writing in 2017, and has been the sports correspondent for NPR’s Weekend Edition since 2006. He is a four-time finalist for the National Magazine Award, an Emmy Award winner, and is twice the winner of the Casey Award for Best Baseball Book of the Year. He lives in Western Massachusetts.
