Readers of fantasy, this event's for you! We are excited to host local authors J.J. de Groot and D.H. Hoskins to discuss two of their latest books.Dive into an apocalyptic medieval world from multiple perspectives in Elegy of the Stars, a standalone debut novel from award-nominated author J.J. de Groot that combines the epic horror of Attack on Titan with the religious mysteries of Umberto Eco's The Name of the Rose. The Horsemen are here, and they aren't leaving until the last remaining kingdom is burned to the ground.
D.H. Hoskins' The Council of Athyzia weaves together some of the most beloved tropes of fantasy — wizards and witches, elves and dwarves, magic and war, good and evil — into an exciting new context familiar to modern readers and fans of politic dramas and history. Here, a debate is as exciting as a sword fight, and a vote is as tense as a pitched battle.
J.J. de Groot writes historical dark fantasy fueled by nerd culture. Her previous novella, The Dyad, was nominated for Project of the Year at Bentley University, where she studied Marketing and Psychology. She is an avid world traveler, a fragrance connoisseur, and a competitive longsword fencer.
D.H. Hoskins probably spends too much time thinking about maps of places that do not exist. When he is not writing, he enjoys playing basketball, boardgames, hiking, and hanging with his dog. He lives outside Boston with his wife and their two French Bulldogs, Millie and Rufus.
