AlterNative Portal: An Evening with Linley B. Logan

Native Action Network invites you to step through the AlterNative Portal — an evening of multidisciplinary Native art featuring the work of Linley B. Logan, presented as part of the Belltown Art Walk.

Join us Friday, September 11th from 6 to 9 PM at the NAN office, 55 Bell Street, for an evening that moves across printmaking, painting, pottery, beadwork and contemporary jewelry, sculpture, glass, and design — a body of work built from a 35-year career exhibiting nationally and internationally.

About the Artist

Linley is a multidisciplinary contemporary artist and designer whose creative foundation includes his Seneca traditional arts, conveyed through contemporary artistic expression. His work spans printmaking, painting, pottery, traditional beaded jewelry and contemporary jewelry, three-dimensional arts, sculpture, glass, and design, with a fine arts background in industrial design, graphic design, and set design.

Linley is an award-winning artist with a 35-year history of exhibiting his work nationally and internationally. He has co-curated contemporary Indigenous international art exhibits and has attended six International Indigenous Visual Arts Gatherings by invitation.

“The artistic language I speak with is a creative expression of the natural world’s strength and the origin of our birth from these life-giving forces of nature being the spirit of life. There is an overlying message in the thread of life tying us to our past to weave my creative language together anecdotally. This woven thread of life tying us to our past acknowledges the power of identity in the spirit of living culture.

I am inspired that these artistic messages come from deep within a confident, culturally grounded spirit — creatively expressed as beyond the mundane in line and form to reveal a perspective of a real dimension in human intellect, as we are (Ongwehoweh, ‘the Real People’).”
