Join us Friday, September 11 from 6–8:30pm for a free evening of live glassblowing at Seattle Glassblowing Studio featuring visiting artist Adeye Jean-Baptiste @adayamonthayear.
Adeye is a multidisciplinary artist and glassblower whose practice brings together glassblowing, kiln-working, beadwork, sewing, and other craft traditions. Their work is informed by movement and migration, particularly the perspective of people who are non-native to the places they move through. At the heart of the work is also a strong interest in community and connection.
Adeye received a BFA from Alfred University and has worked and studied at studios and institutions including Firebird Community Arts, STARworks, Penland School of Craft, Pittsburgh Glass Center, and the Museum of Glass. They also helped co-create Alfred University's Black Glass Artist Series, an ongoing program supporting and celebrating Black artists working in glass.
We're excited to welcome Adeye into the hot shop for an evening of glassblowing, collaboration, and conversation.
