Access Fund Estes Park Thumb Adopt-a-Crag
About this Event
Join us for an Adopt-a-Crag at the Thumb! The Conservation Team will be working on creating sustainable and hand-bike usuable tread up to the Thumb and Needle by installing large switchbacks and rock pavers on steep sections of tread. We need your help!
Meeting Time & Location:
Meet at 9 am at the Thumb OS parking area
Work wraps up around 3 pm - feel free to bring your climbing gear to get some post-volunteer pitches!
For all Adopt a Crag events, please keep in mind the following:
Wear closed toed shoes. Long sleeves and pants are recommended.
Bring water, snacks, and extra layers for the elements.
Be prepared to be challenged, work hard, and gain karma points!
Work includes lifting and carrying up to 50-100 pounds, walking on unstable terrain, and being exposed to the elements (sun, rain, heat, cold, everything in between and beyond.) Volunteers should expect to hike up a steep, unstable slope to get to the worksite and will be primarily carrying rock and using tools to cut trail. Some low-impact activities will be available such as using loppers and hand saws to brush out the trail corridor.
If you have any questions, please contact [email protected].
All volunteers must complete the Access Fund waiver and Code of Conduct prior to volunteering.
