A Modern Landmark with Historic Roots: Calgary Central Library
About this Event
Founded in 1912, the Calgary Public Library has long served as a cornerstone of learning, culture, and community in the city. The Calgary Central Library, opened in 2018, is an architectural landmark and public hub designed by Snøhetta and DIALOG. Built above an active CTrain line, the structure symbolizes innovation and connection. Its archway and glass façade are inspired by Calgary’s iconic Chinook arch clouds, while the warm wood interior reflects Alberta’s natural landscapes. Join Yanita Gourkova in an exploration of the reading areas, studios, meeting spaces, performance venues, and collections for all ages, that foster creativity, discovery, and engagement in the heart of Calgary.
