Broom Maker's Weekend — A First-Ever Workshop with Shannon & JesseCome spend a weekend making something beautiful, useful, and entirely by hand (and foot).
Craft timeless tools by hand — one straw at a time.
Spend a weekend immersed in the ancient craft of broom making! In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn the techniques and traditions behind several classic broom styles, from rustic cobweb brooms, function kitchen brooms and decorative whisk brooms. Working with natural materials like broomcorn, you’ll master the art of binding, wrapping, and shaping as you bring each piece to life. No prior experience needed — just a love of making things by hand. Walk away with a collection of beautiful, functional brooms you made yourself, plus the skills to keep crafting at home.
Join us in our home studio for a relaxed survey of broom making styles — we're slowing things down, tying things up, and having a great time trying something new. Whether you're drawn to the craft, the community, or just the excuse to spend a weekend making things with your hands, this one's for you.
You'll leave with five handmade brooms and a whole new skill set.
What You'll Make
All brooms are made with nylon cord and broom corn, tied with your choice of string colors. Handles range from rustic to smooth — mix and match to make a coordinated set or let each one be its own thing.
