About this Event

8 Hills ArtWays

Creative workshops exploring place, memory and community

The new National Trust 8 Hills Regional Park project is bringing together landscapes, heritage sites and green spaces in a celebration of natural beauty, history and community. The project aims to encourage people to explore, protect and feel connected to the hills, paths and stories that shape the local area.

8 Hills ArtWays is a creative community project inspired by the landscapes, stories and heritage of the proposed 8 Hills Regional Park — a connected network of hills, green spaces and walking routes stretching across North Worcestershire and the southern edge of Birmingham. From Clent Hill to Beacon Hill, these landscapes have shaped local stories, memories and communities for generations. 8 Hills ArtWays invites people to explore these connections through creativity, conversation, writing and photography.

About the 8 Hills

The 8 Hills commonly associated with the project are:

  • Clent Hill
  • Romsley Hill
  • Frankley Beeches
  • Waseley Hill
  • Beacon Hill
  • Cofton Hill
  • Wast Hill
  • Weatheroak Hill

Together, these hills form a distinctive and much-loved landscape rich in wildlife, walking routes, local history and folklore.

What to Expect

Through a series of free workshops, participants will explore the spaces we love, share memories and anecdotes, and reflect on local folklore, history and everyday experiences connected to the region.

No previous experience is needed — sessions are open to all ages, backgrounds and abilities.

  • Creative writing and poetry walking workshops
  • Photography walking workshops
  • Arts-based workshops from a community venue
  • Memory and memoir activities
  • Story sharing and local folklore discussions
  • Opportunities to connect with others in your community
  • A welcoming and supportive creative space

The final project will gather stories, images and creative work for a small publication celebrating the voices and experiences of local communities connected to the 8 Hills Regional Park.

Who Can Take Part?

Everyone is welcome. Whether you are completely new to creative activities or already enjoy writing or photography, these workshops are designed to be inclusive, relaxed and accessible.
