Let's come together to honor the legacy of Marcus Garvey and celebrate his contributions. This in-person event promises a day filled with music, inspirational speakers, and cultural activities. Remember to bring your family and friends for a day of unity and empowerment.
Our guest speaker this year will be community activist and UNIA member Cimarron Reed-Bandele.
Cimarron Reed-Bandele is a dedicated community leader and activist originally from Hartford, Connecticut, now residing in Durham, North Carolina, with his wife and family. Since 1993, he has worked with families and youth through charter schools, Rites-of-Passage programs, nonprofit organizations, and community-based initiatives. His work reflects a longstanding commitment to strengthening families, supporting youth development, and fostering meaningful community engagement.
Reed-Bandele is a former president of UNIA-ACL Division #459 in Durham and has been deeply involved in advancing the principles of Garveyism. He is the co-founder of the former Nile Valley Children’s School and the former Nu Community Development Center, and the founder of the Marcus Garvey Society, an organization dedicated to promoting the legacy, philosophy, and teachings of the Honorable Marcus Mosiah Garvey.
