It's been a wee while since Swiss-American horse trainer Rouven Krauer has been to Blackford Glen, and we're delighted to welcome him back!

Fri, 10th Oct, 16:00: Demo and Talk
Horse-human connection
How to work with different types of horses/how different types of horses react
How horses think and perceive the world, etc
How we can learn to communicate more clearly, how to be present, and how to regulate our own emotions.
(This is suitable for people with no prior knowledge of horses and those who don’t own their own horse)

Sat – Sun, 11th – 12th Oct: Weekend Clinic
The clinic will be taught in 1:1 and group sessions over the course of the two days.
We’ll be working on our connection with our horses, learning more about how they see the world and us, and how we can help them better navigate the world we all live in.
We’ll be learning how horses can help us with our personal growth, by teaching us how to communicate more clearly, how to be present, and they also teach us about emotional intelligence.
We’ll be working on roundpenning, long linining, liberty work, and anything else clinic participants would like to work on.

“Problem” horses and young/inexperienced horses and handlers welcome!

If you’ve got any specific issues with your horse, Rouven is very happy to work on these with you both over the course of the weekend.

About Rouven:
Growing up in Switzerland, Rouven was riding and vaulting from a young age. He later wrangled pack and saddle horses for the Swiss military and earned his certification as a therapeutic riding instructor for disabled children and adults. He also became certified through the EAHAE International Association for Horse Assisted Education, utilizing equine-assisted learning programs to help individuals and corporate teams develop valuable life and professional skills through structured activities with horses.

Rouven’s career took an exciting turn when he became a featured equine act in a Swiss circus, and he further honed his skills by studying under Monty Roberts. His first encounter with mustangs ignited a lifelong passion for these wild horses, which was evident when he competed in the 2011 Extreme Mustang Makeover in Norco, California, where he adopted the mustang he trained. Rouven’s passion for equine training has led him to conduct workshops across the US, Europe and Asia, educating fellow equestrians.

After a brief hiatus to pursue a degree in Business Administration, Rouven returned to his equine roots, focusing on working with mustangs at his ranch in Oak Creek, Colorado. One of his most cherished experiences was mentoring Jakob, a twelve-year-old, to compete in the 2023 Meeker Mustang Makeover youth division.

Rouven's passion for horses, especially mustangs, drives his mission to inspire others, foster deep connections between humans and animals, and showcase the transformative power of equine relationships.

Spaces are limited, so please get in touch with us via the page or email us at [email protected] to book your space.

Disclaimer: In the past, we’ve unfortunately had several people pulling out of our clinics at the very last minute. This meant we were unable to fill the slots at short notice, resulting in our having to make up the deficit ourselves. We therefore require advance payment. No refunds can be given for spaces cancelled less than seven days before the event.

Stabling and grazing is available for ÂŁ5/night/horse for grazing and ÂŁ15/night/horse for stabling.

Folk new to Blackford Glen and English riders and their horses are always welcome too!

Please get in touch as soon as possible if you would like to book in.
