Freddie Bryant’s Kaleidoscope West Trio draws from a vivid range of influences: straight-ahead jazz, blues, New Orleans grooves, Brazilian and Latin rhythms, and world music traditions. The program features music from Freddie’s recent album Solo Bossa, his acclaimed song cycle Upper West Side Love Story, and Live Grooves...Epic Tales.
Freddie is joined by an exceptional rhythm section with Sylvia Cuenca on drums and Doug Miller on bass.
A Yale School of Music graduate with a master’s degree in classical guitar, Freddie Bryant is active in the New York jazz and Brazilian music scenes. He has worked with artists including Eliane Elias, Tom Harrell, Ben Riley’s Monk Legacy Septet, and the Mingus Orchestra, where he has performed for two decades.
His music reflects a truly global journey. Freddie has toured in 55 countries and collaborated with musicians from many traditions, including Indian classical music, African vocal music, oud ensembles, traditional Arab groups, and klezmer bands.
Expect an evening of richly textured guitar, expressive vocals, dynamic grooves, and world-class musicianship — from intimate bossa nova to high-energy ensemble interplay.
