About this Event
A Reiki-Informed Group Experience for Persistent Pain
Living with ongoing pain can be exhausting. It affects more than just the body and it can impact sleep, mood, confidence, and your sense of ease in the world.
If you’ve tried many approaches already, you may feel cautious about committing to something new.
Pain Pattern Reset is a gentle group introduction to a different way of working with pain, one that blends nervous system science with the compassionate philosophy that underpins Reiki.
Understanding Persistent Pain
When pain continues long after an injury has healed, the nervous system can become overprotective. The brain learns the pattern of pain and begins to anticipate it, sometimes amplifying signals even when there is no ongoing damage.
This does not mean the pain is imagined.
It means your system has become highly skilled at protection.
The encouraging truth is this: patterns that are learned can also be reshaped.
What Happens in This Session?
In this group experience, you’ll be guided into a deeply restful state (similar to Yoga Nidra). From this calm and regulated place, we introduce gentle cognitive and language-based techniques that help the nervous system soften its habitual responses.
We work with:
- Deep guided relaxation
- Breath and body awareness
- Subtle mindset and perception shifts
- Safety-based nervous system regulation
You remain aware and in control at all times. This is a natural state of focused relaxation and not something being “done” to you.
How Is It Reiki-Informed?
While this is not a Reiki treatment or technique, it is grounded in Reiki principles:
- The body is intelligent and seeks balance
- Healing happens in safety, not force
- Kindness toward ourselves changes physiology
Rather than fighting pain, we create conditions for the system to feel safe enough to respond differently.
It is both practical and compassionate.
What You May Notice
- Deep physical relaxation
- Reduced muscular guarding
- A sense of space around pain
- Greater calm and emotional steadiness
- Improved sleep
- A renewed sense of possibility
This is not a quick fix or guaranteed cure. It is an introduction to working with your nervous system instead of against it.
There is no pressure, simply an opportunity to begin differently.
What to Bring
To make your experience as restful as possible, bring:
- Yoga mat or something comfortable to lie on
- 2 pillows or cushions (one for your head, one under your knees)
- Eye pillow or light scarf to gently cover your eyes
- 1–2 blankets to stay cosy as your body relaxes
- Water bottle
Wear whatever feels comfortable, leggings, jeans, whatever helps you rest. The studio is shoe-free, so socks are a good idea.
The most important thing is that you’re warm and comfortable! 💜
