Sunday 26th April is the Zeebrugge Raid Memorial service on the River Mersey aboard the Ferry leaving from Seacombe Ferry, Wallasey at 9.30am. Then return the Seacombe Ferry terminal for a service at the Zeebrugge memorial there.Meet at Seacombe ferry for 9.00 and board one of the Mersey Ferry boats where a memorial service is held on in the middle of the Mersey River to give tribute to the brave Marines and Royal Navy
"The Zeebrugge Raid on 23 April 1918, was an attempt by the Royal Navy to block the Belgian port of Bruges-Zeebrugge. The British intended to sink obsolete ships in the canal entrance, to prevent German vessels from leaving port. It was almost a complete failure, with 600 Marines and Naval personal either dead or wounded, however their heroism was rewarded in 11 Victoria Crosses"
Everyone is then invited to the RNA club for refreshments,,,,,,,we usually have a good turn out for this; more info to follow
