Join us for this fantastic opportunity to support the important mahi that goes on at Zealandia Te Mara a Tane!
On Sunday the 29th of November (9:00am to 3:00pm), WTMC have the privilege of getting to help Ellen Irwin (Lead Conservation Ranger at Zealandia and fellow WTMC member!) and the Zealandia team with some off-track mahi across the east to west transect lines of the sanctuary.
Check out the sign up form for more info, and to register your interest in the working bee: https://forms.gle/JKUKDrtHwVamEaQp9
The trip has been set at medium grade due to the nature of the terrain, requiring off-track travel, navigation, steep and slippery sections and a lot of bush-bashing. If you don't think you are up for this trip, but are keen to help out, keep your eyes peeled for future volunteering and conservation activities!
Required skills/experience:
- Confident off-track, on occasionally steep and slippery terrain
- A good attitude, happy to get stuck in and a bit muddy!
Desired skills:
- Able to use a topo map to navigate (an internal Zealandia topo map will be provided which shows the east to west transect lines that need to be followed for this project). If you are not confident with map reading, we will ensure you are buddied with someone who is.
