Elementary Poetry (3rd - 5th grades): This is My Prophet ﷺ
- “And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], except as a mercy to the worlds.” — Qur’an 21:107
- Hadith: “The merciful are shown mercy by the Most Merciful. Be merciful to those on the earth, and the One above the heavens will have mercy upon you.”
- Write and recite a short original poem describing the character of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, using the assigned ayah and hadith to show how he demonstrated mercy.
Middle School Poetry (6th-8th grades): Good to one Another
- “Indeed, Allah commands justice, excellence, and giving to relatives, and forbids immorality, bad conduct, and oppression…”— Qur’an 16:90
- Hadith: “None of you truly believes until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself.”
- Compose and perform an original poem or spoken word piece that illustrates how Muslims should treat one another, grounded in the assigned ayah and hadith.
High School Spoken Word (9th-12th): Unity Ummah
- “And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided…”— Qur’an 3:103
- Hadith: “The believers, in their mutual love, mercy, and compassion, are like one body: when one part of the body suffers, the whole body responds with sleeplessness and fever.”
- Write and perform an original spoken word piece that explores the meaning, challenges, and responsibility of unity within the Ummah, anchored in the assigned ayah and hadith.
