About
The Youth Festival Chorus brings together youths who share a common passion for music and are looking to explore a diverse range of choral works. The chorus will be led by our guest conductor Jeffery Redding (USA), alongside Associate Conductor of VOS Youth Choir Gerald Tan.
About Dr. Jeffery Redding
Dr. Jeffery Redding serves as the Director of Choral Activities at the University of Central Florida (UCF), where his career-long commitment to building community through song was recognized with the 2019 GRAMMY Music Educator Award.
His work as a cultural ambassador has defined a distinguished international career, allowing him to impact lives globally. Whether adjudicating in Verona, Italy where he was named "Top Director” or conducting at the Sydney Opera House and the Vatican in Rome, his focus remains on the power of the collective voice to bridge different walks of life. He is frequently featured as both a conductor and a public speaker, having delivered a TEDx Talk on the transformative power of music.
Whether on a global festival stage, a speaking platform, or in a local rehearsal hall, his work remains centered on the belief that music is the ultimate tool for fostering connection and building community.
Eligibility
- Youths from 15 to 28 years old
- At least 3 years of choral experience
- Applicants should be able to sing in 4 parts securely with accuracy of pitching and rhythm.
Rehearsals
16 August, Sunday: 1pm - 3:30pm @ VOS Choral Hub
30 August, Sunday: 1pm - 3:30pm @ VOS Choral Hub
5 September, Saturday: 7:30pm - 10pm @ VOS Capitol Studios B1
6 September, Sunday: 1:30pm - 4pm @ VOS Choral Hub
* All rehearsals are compulsory. The first two rehearsals will be led by VOS conductors, while the final two rehearsals will be conducted by the clinician.
Concert

Choir standby: 8pm @ CHIJMES Hall

Stage Dress Code
Formal performance wear in black only, full length to the ankles, with black footwear.
Cost
The participation fee for Festival Choruses would be $38 before GST and booking fee.
Memory Work
Memory work may be required in preparation for the performance.
