Attendees will learn how to safely strip and refinish old house woodwork and antique furniture, using methods that bring out natural beauty while protecting the piece for years to come.
The session will include a helpful list of tools and supplies, along with easy, step-by-step instructions that anyone can follow at home. Participants will have plenty of time to ask questions and share experiences working with older materials. The presentation will last about an hour, followed by a question-and-answer session.

This workshop is part of a new public program series introduced by the Historic District Commission called: “Your Heritage Home: A Practical Program Series for Old House Lovers.”
This new series is designed to help homeowners and residents better understand, care for, and preserve older homes. Through practical workshops and expert guidance, residents can learn from local professionals and celebrate the care and craftsmanship that makes Monroe’s historic homes so special.
The Historic District Commission (HDC) helps preserve Monroe’s architectural heritage and protect the community’s historic charm. By caring for our older buildings and sharing preservation knowledge, the Commission helps maintain Monroe’s unique character and sense of place.
