Yoga Nidra is a guided meditation practice often described as “yogic sleep,” where the body rests deeply while the mind remains gently aware.
It typically involves lying down comfortably and being led through a structured sequence - such as body awareness, breath observation, and visualization - that guides you into a state between waking and sleeping. In this state, the nervous system can settle, and the body has an opportunity to rest more deeply than in ordinary relaxation.
Traditionally rooted in yogic philosophy, Yoga Nidra is considered a practice of conscious awareness, not actual sleep. Modern approaches also connect it to nervous system regulation, stress reduction, and improved mental clarity.
