Workshop with the author of the exhibition “Inner Relief” Severija Žukauskytė

The author of the exhibition “Inner Relief”, Severija Žukauskytė, invites visitors to workshops that connect the worlds of art and science at the Užupis Art Incubator Gallery. 

During these creative workshops, participants are invited to explore the concept of identity through materiality, scale transformation, and observation. Natural objects or items of personal significance brought by participants will be examined under a microscope, searching for invisible structures, rhythms, and visual layers. 

The observed imagery will become the basis for individual interpretations and creative experiments, reflecting on one's relationship with the environment, memory, and identity.

More about the exhibition 

This is a visual investigation that examines national identity as a multilayered, dynamic, and constantly evolving phenomenon. 

The exhibition is based on microscopic photographs of Lithuanian rocks, which are transformed into textile patterns and woven using industrial jacquard looms. By altering the scale, geological fragments lose their direct recognizability and emerge as systems of rhythms, colours, and structures, inviting viewers to reconsider the relationship between land, culture, and identity. 

The exhibition combines artistic and scientific methods, using the earth as a conceptual foundation for exploring deeper, often invisible layers of identity. 

Rather than providing answers, the exhibition encourages visitors to ask questions about what shapes us and how we understand our identity.
