About this Event
Join the Bristol Historical & Preservation Society’s Pozzi Center on Saturday April 18, from 9:30 to 11:30 for a workshop entitled Know your Options: New Materials for Your Old House. Architect and preservation expert Vincent Pacifico will lead this exploration into which modern materials are appropriate for use on historic buildings and how they can be best used in ways that maintain their historic character, but make them functional and sustainable. The event will start with a conversational show-and-tell about which modern materials have been recently approved for the Bristol Historic District and then take participants on a walking tour of their use on buildings right here in town! Vincent, who owns and runs the full service architectural studio Pacific-Visions Studio, will also talk about his time working on historic structures and what he has seen in the field.
A Worcester native and now Bristol resident, Vincent has always had a strong connection to the New England cultural heritage and its historical buildings. His passion for preserving the historic landscape has led him to open his own architectural office in Bristol called Pacific-Visions Studio LLC which is a full service architectural studio where he focuses much of his time working on historic structures. Vincent has 10 years of experience working in the field of architecture and has proficiency with single family & multifamily rehabilitations, historic restorations, construction management, client relations along with new construction. Vincent earned his Masters of Architecture from Roger Williams University and is a licensed Architect in both Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Outside of the studio he enjoys carpentry, growing vegetables, antiquing and exploring nature.
The Lombard J. Pozzi Center for Historic Preservation and Education at the BH&PS honors Lombard J. Pozzi's devotion to Rhode Island's architectural heritage by promoting historic preservation education and advancing knowledge about best practices in conserving our inherited built environment.
The Bristol Historical & Preservation Society seeks to stimulate interest in the history of Bristol, Rhode Island, through education, research, and the collection and preservation of historic objects. Bristol has a rich and vibrant history and one of our goals is to explore this history in as many ways as possible. Keep an eye on our website for more events to come!
