Level 3 (Specialist Knowledge) training for professionals working with those that are causing harm in the context of Domestic Abuse
About this Event

PLEASE NOTE: This course is Face to Face in Truro

This course is designed for people who work directly with Individuals and families being affected by domestic abuse particularly those who are using abusive behaviours. Gain toolkits and expand your assessment skills to identify and respond to the risk and impact of Coercive Control.

If you are interested in delving deeper into the complexities of domestic abuse, this event is for you! Join us for an insightful training session on identifying the perpetrators of harm in domestic abuse situations, particularly where there are counter allegations and their behaviour is rooted within Coercive Control.

We recommend first completing our Level 2 ‘Understanding Coercive Control’ and our Level 3 DASH training courses for those that have little to no prior training in this subject matter. This course explores Coercive Control and the typologies of Domestic Abuse to support good assessments of who is at risk especially when dealing with counter allegations. The course also explores practice tools to use when working with people using abusive behaviours.

This whole day (10am – 4pm) course aims to:

  • Increase understanding of Gender Based Violence
  • Develop knowledge/skills how to assess counter allegations
  • Provide an introduction to practice tools in relation to working with those who use harmful behaviours
  • Increase confidence in practicing personal and professional boundaries

At the foundation of all DASV training is an understanding and awareness of controlling and coercive behaviour in an intimate or family relationship. Barnardo's Safer Futures recognise that people are affected by domestic abuse or sexual violence exist in all areas of society. We provide training for all professionals across all sectors.

Booking Conditions

This training is funded only for individuals who work and/or reside in Cornwall & Isles of Scilly, United Kingdom. If you are booking with an address outside of Cornwall, please contact us via email in advance to ensure your booking is not cancelled. Out of county bookings will be cancelled without warning. If you would like this training for your team

Participants are expected to have their camera on throughout the duration of the course. Visual cues play an important part in the facilitator being able to recognise how delegates are feeling and to monitor the wellbeing of the group. Keeping cameras on also encourages engagement and communication; This is an interactive course with activities throughout.

Laptop sharing between attendees within the same workplace is not permitted. Each person attending the training must be signed up individually and using their own device. We offer bespoke group training, please contact us if you feel this would best suit your organisation.

Cancellations can be made through your Eventbrite account, or via 'Manage my booking' on the original booking confirmation. Non-attendance and failure to cancel your booking will result in an email sent to your line manager with details of the missed session, and the commissioning team will be made aware of repeat non-attendance.

By booking a space on training, you understand that your booking information will be shared with Cornwall Council, commissioners, and funding providers as part of funding requirements.

Please read through course descriptions prior to booking to ensure your professional experience, responsibility and previous training will support the level of learning of each session. Please refer to the flow chart below to ensure you have a smooth professional development journey with us.
