Working effectively with unions
About this Event
The Employment Rights Act 2025 (ERA) has already brought in many changes to how we work with trade unions, and there is more on the horizon. Working effectively with trade unions will be a required skill of people practitioners both now and in the future. Come along to this session to learn how to manage the relationship between organisations, managers and unions.
About the speaker
Dermot Murphy
Dermot had a 30-year career at the RSPCA Inspectorate, where for 8 years he led the Inspectorate, a field force of over 400 people across England and Wales, overseeing a complex 7-day operation. His experience spans union negotiations, and chairing hearings, making him a well-rounded professional in both strategic and operational roles.
Now a registered mediator with the Civil Mediation Council, Dermot brings a balanced and pragmatic approach to conflict resolution in civil, commercial and workplace disputes. Leveraging his background in investigations and coaching, he has served as a media spokesperson and a conference presenter.
