Woodkern: The Next Generation of Folk

Woodkern are an exciting new 7-piece band showcasing some of the South West’s most outstanding young musicians. Fresh from a summer of festivals and acclaimed concert performances, they are quickly establishing a reputation for their energetic musicianship, captivating stage presence and passion for sharing folk traditions with new audiences.
Drawing inspiration from the rich musical traditions of the Celtic nations while embracing contemporary folk influences, Woodkern create a sound that is both deep rooted and refreshingly modern. Their performances feature driving dance tunes, powerful songs and original material written by members of the band, highlighting the creativity and talent of a new generation of folk artists.
The group brings together exceptional young performers from Cornwall and Devon – Harry and Olly Kessell and Ruby Gillson (Kessenyan), Karenza Lily-May, Lily Lakeman, Eva Reid and Max Morrison. The first half of the evening will feature spotlight performances from the band members, offering the audience a chance to experience the unique talents and musical voices within the group.
