This fun and supportive two-day experience is designed for paddlers looking to build confidence and skills paddling tandem canoes on moving water. It’s a great opportunity for paddlers with some flatwater experience to transition onto rivers in a safe, encouraging, and supportive environment.
Prerequisite Requirements
Participants should have a demonstrated ability to maneuver a canoe in a lake or flatwater setting. Instruction will be tailored to meet you where you’re at, with appropriate challenges to support learning in a safe and positive space.
What can you expect?
Two days of paddling on the Nashwaak River with instruction from certified Paddle Canada instructor(s).
The course location will be on Killarney Lake (morning of day 1) and the Nashwaak River. Participants should be prepared to travel to the Stanley/Nashwaak Bridge area on day 2. Location of training may move depending on water levels.
Tentative Schedule
Day One: Safety briefing, course overview, skill assessment, and flatwater-to-moving-water skill development
Location: Killarney Lake / Nashwaak River
Day Two: Continued skill development and river run
Location: Nashwaak River within 1.0 hour of Fredericton (based on conditions)
