Bobolink Survey
About this Event
We will be surveying Bobolinks a species at risk that are found in grassland habitats such as hayfields, meadows, and pastures. We will meet at The Landing Frederictin from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
Nashwaak staff and volunteers will split into teams and drive to different locations across the watershed. Each team will have at least one staff member, who will guide you through the count and tell you more about what we do. Most locations are on private property, so access to these properties outside of the survey days is not encouraged. After the count, everyone will meet back at the landing to discuss what was observed during the day and wrap up the event.
We'll be visiting several sites in the Nashwaak Watershed throughout the morning, and we recommend bringing:
- Long pants and socks (some sites have tall grass). Long sleeve shirts are also recommended.
- A hat, layers and sunscreen for changing weather.
- Binoculars (we’ll have extras available if you need them but please let us know in advance.).
