National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day | Community HIV Testing & Awareness
In recognition of National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, observed annually on March 10, The Hearth Home invites women, girls, and community members to join us in raising awareness about HIV prevention, testing, and access to care.
National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day highlights the importance of addressing the impact of HIV among women and ensuring that prevention services remain accessible to those who need them. In 2022, women accounted for approximately 19% of new HIV diagnoses nationwide, with Black women representing nearly half of all new diagnoses among women.
Despite the availability of effective HIV prevention options, women continue to be underrepresented among individuals utilizing pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), a medication that can significantly reduce the risk of acquiring HIV.
At The Hearth Home, we are committed to increasing awareness, reducing stigma, and connecting women with the resources and services needed to make informed decisions about their sexual health.
We encourage community members to visit The Hearth Home for free, confidential HIV testing, learn more about PrEP and other prevention options, and connect with our team for additional education, resources, and support.
