Max Raz-Liebman presents Wodan’s Oak: a modern jazz work encompassing jazz fusion, prog-rock, medieval and Renaissance music, live electronics, sampling, storytelling, and many other influences. The piece received the 2025 Allan Zavod Award from Melbourne University for its melding of jazz and classical elements. Set across four movements, Wodan’s Oak tells a story of paganism and cosmic forces in the early Middle Ages through a melding of composed and improvised music.
