Nancy Peter and Andrea Shumsky and I have resurrected and are now the Co-Presidents of the Wissahickon Valley Riding and Driving Association – the organization that hosted the Wissahickon Day Parade for nearly 100 years. We have submitted our permit to the Fairmount Park Commission, have confirmed an insurance provider, and have received an anonymous donation to cover these costs. Yay!
The Wissahickon Day Parade will take place on Sunday, April 26, at 12 PM. As in the past, riders and drivers will register at Northwestern Stables, gather in Northwestern Avenue, and ride to the Valley Green Inn. This year we will also have online registration and a suggested donation fee.
Please save the date. We will also have a kick-off Zoom meeting in November or December. If you are interested in helping with planning, promotion, and/or day-of assistance, please complete our VERY SHORT FORM no later than Friday, November 14. This form will also let you weigh in on the date for our kick-off meeting. And saying you are interested does not commit you. 😊
