About this Event

Our touring exhibition, Wide-Angle View, is coming to RIBA North. Please join us to celebrate its opening.

In 1969, the Architectural Review magazine launched Manplan, a ground-breaking and often uncompromising assessment of Britain’s built environment at the end of the sixties. Combining pioneering graphic and print techniques with powerful photojournalism, the attention grabbing magazine sought to question and critique architectural ideas at the time. It highlighted social issues that continue to be relevant today, including inadequate housing, community, and loneliness.

Wide-Angle View contains over 80 original photographs capturing life in the late 1960s. The exhibition reflects on the legacy of Manplan, highlighting the powerful role photography and design can still play in communicating and challenging over half a century on.

Join us for a preview on Thursday 9 July 2026.

The exhibition continues until Sunday 4 October 2026.

Event format

• There will be a drinks reception from 6.30pm
• The exhibition curator, Valeria Carullo, will give a short introduction to the exhibition at 7pm
• The reception will continue until 8.30pm.

Visitor information:

• the event will be on the first floor, accessed via stairs or lift

• the preview is a standing drinks reception, but seating will be available if required
• a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic options will be available
• unfortunately, there are no storage facilities for large bags or luggage
